St Nicholas Church

In Demre, St. Nicholas Church holds a place that is both historical and deeply symbolic, linking the Mediterranean coast of Türkiye to one of the most widely known figures in Christian tradition. This ancient East Roman church is dedicated to St. Nicholas of Myra, the bishop whose life later inspired the figure of Santa Claus, and it is widely believed to have been built above his burial place.
