Passport & Visas
All travelers to Sri Lanka should obtain Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) approval while they are planning their trip. After you receive the ETA approval, you will be eligible for a tourist visa for stays up to 30 days if you are a citizen of the following countries: the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the US, and Canada. Please check the requirements based on nationality before your trip to Sri Lanka.
Travelers to Sri Lanka must have a passport or travel document valid for at least 6 months from their arrival date in Sri Lanka. You should carry your passport or travel document with you at all times.

When to Go
High Season
The best time to visit Sri Lanka is from December to March when the island experiences its driest season and most comfortable weather for traveling. Monsoon rains shift to the southwest region in March, and the central plains are once again blessed by sunlight. The average temperature is 28°C in central attractions like Kandy and Dambulla. Among the most popular attractions to visit in the dry season is the tea country, hosting pleasantly warm weather and exuberant flora.
Christmas time in December and the harvest season in April mark the most festive times on the island. Bear in mind that it is also the peak season for Ceylon tours, so you will see the iconic sights and cities buzzing with travelers. Still, it is a wonderful time for making sincere connections with the local culture.
Low Season
June to August, widely known as the inter-monsoon season, is also a rewarding time when there is an opening in the skies for plenty of sunshine. Nature is thriving after the rains all across the Cultural Triangle. It is a perfect time for the best places to visit in Sri Lanka since it is the peak season for religious and cultural festivals.
We recommend packing rain protection as occasional rains can be experienced at the coast. In the Tea Country, temperatures may be slightly lower. As you travel, you will encounter different weather conditions in different regions due to the unique climate of Sri Lanka. Make sure you have the necessary gear to make your trip as comfortable as possible.

Money Matters
The currency in Sri Lanka is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). We recommend you go to the city center to change your money.
ATMs are available in central locations, but access is difficult in rural areas.
Credit cards are widely accepted but not accepted for small payments in some shops.

Don’t leave before you try the traditional Rice and Curry, or myriad other curries that constitute a pivotal part of any Sri Lankan menu.
Short eats are also at the forefront of Sri Lankan cuisine, especially the street food culture.
Ceylon tea is an entire ritual in itself across Sri Lanka. You will also find a variety of fruity refreshments on the streets, such as coconut and wood apple juice.
Solo Travel
