Beach Cemetery

Beach Cemetery

Near the southern end of Anzac Cove, Beach Cemetery is one of Gallipoli’s most poignant places of remembrance, where the shoreline itself seems to hold the memory of the campaign. Used from the first day of the Anzac landing until almost the time of withdrawal, the cemetery occupies a narrow coastal strip between the road and the sea, giving it a setting that is both striking and deeply moving. Today, it remains one of the most significant Commonwealth cemeteries on the peninsula.

For many visitors, Beach Cemetery is especially meaningful because of its atmosphere. The sea is never far from view, and the quiet character of the site creates a powerful contrast with the violence once witnessed here. More than a cemetery alone, it stands as a place of reflection, memory, and enduring respect on one of the most historic stretches of the Gallipoli coast.
